Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Establish Cooperation in the field of Capacity Building with BRSDM-KP

6 June 2023

Korea Indonesia MTCRC and Agency of Marine and Fisheries Research and Human Resources (BRSDM-KP) took a significant stride towards fortifying the relationship by formalizing collaboration through an MoU signing ceremony in the Human Resources Capacity Building field. The cooperation legally began with the signing of MoU by the Head of BRSDM-KP Dr. I Nyoman Radiarta, S.Pi., M.Sc., and the two Directors of Korea-Indonesia MTCRC, Dr. PARK Hansan and Ivonne M. Radjawane, Ph.D., at Mina Bahari III Building, Central Jakarta. The event was also attended by VIPs from both parties. 

Through this cooperation agreement, both parties have agreed to strengthen and share collaboration ideas on several academic and research topics and can be a framework for cooperation between BRSDM-KP and MTCRC in establishing an integrated capacity-building center and enhancing capacity-building in Indonesia.

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Conducted Marine Equipment Training

22-26 May 2023

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC collaborated with ITB to conduct "Marine Equipment Training '' located at MTCRC Cirebon Center. The training was conducted for four days with on-class theory, field training sessions, and data processing classes. The training was officially opened by remarks from Ivonne M. Radjawane Ph.D. (MTCRC Director), Dr. Agus Mochamad Ramdhan (Vice Dean of FEST ITB), also Mr. Chungkyun Jeon (Head of Training and Survey Department of MTCRC).

On this special occasion, the participants from ITB, UNTAG Cirebon, and UNU Cirebon can get special training material delivered by trainers from MTCRC researchers; Mochamad Riam Badriana, Ashadi Arifin Nur and Indrawan Fadhil Pratyaksa. The sessions of this course were a field survey where trainers explained about marine equipment such as MBES, SBES, SBP, ADCP, and CTD while using ARA Boat in Cirebon coastal area. Then also the participants get a class session where the trainers explained how to process the data.

Oceantech CEO Visit MTCRC Jakarta Office 

19 May 2023

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Jakarta Office was visited by the CEO of Oceantech Co., Ltd Korea, Mr. Daniel S.D. Hong. On this occasion, MTCRC has a chance to introduce the center and discuss a possible activity that can be collaborated. Both Oceantech and MTCRC expressed excitement about the potential for future collaborations and partnerships. The visit laid the groundwork for a relationship with the mutual goal of advancing marine technology, enhancing sustainable practices, and promoting economic growth in the maritime sector.


Signing MoU between MTCRC and UNUD

13 April 2023

Formalizing a new partnership with one of the potential universities in Indonesia, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Udayana University at Rectorate Building, Udayana University, Bali. The MoU was signed by MTCRC’s Directors, Dr. PARK Hansan, Dr.Ivonne M. Radjawane, and Prof. I Putu Gede Adiatmika, Vice-Rector for Planning, Cooperation and Information as a representative of the Rector of Unud. Through this cooperation agreement, both parties have agreed to strengthen and share collaboration ideas on several academic and research topics, and it is expected to make a positive contribution in the field of marine science and technology that is advantageous for Korea-Indonesia bilateral cooperation through Unud and MTCRC.

Regular Consultation Meeting with Adv.Board and CMMAI

10 April 2023

In order to facilitate and discuss all matters currently operated by MTCRC, a regular consultation meeting was held in series between Korea-Indonesia. MTCRC and Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investments (CMMAI), especially with Deputy for Maritime Resources Coordination at Sari Pacific, Jakarta. The meeting was attended by MTCRC Directors, Adv Board, and Deputy Assistant from Deputy for Maritime Resources Coordination, CMMAI.

NOAA Visit to JKTO Thamrin

4 April 2023

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Jakarta Office was visited by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) team, including Dr. David M. Legler, Ms. Devin Burri, and Mr. Joe Noughton. On this occasion, MTCRC has a chance to introduce the center and discuss a possible activity that can be collaborated. Both organizations are dedicated to advancing the understanding and prediction of changes in climate, weather, oceans, and coasts. The visit is an exciting opportunity to learn from each other and make progress towards a more sustainable future. 

BRIN Workshop: Coastal Ecosystem Resilience Under Fluctuating Tourism

20 March 2023

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Staff and Researcher participated in a workshop entitled "Coastal ecosystem resilience under fluctuating tourism: mapping seagrass patterns and sea turtles with citizen science and machine learning” held by the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). During this workshop, the participants discussed fascinating topics, such as the current status of seagrass resilience mapping and seagrass management in Indonesia. This workshop is expected to help lay the groundwork for research, monitoring, and restoration plan, as well as provide recommendations for seagrass management in Indonesia.
