The Korea-Indonesia Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center (MTCRC) continued its effort on capacity building program in the form of a training titled "Special Training Course: Marine Survey Equipment Training" on April 22–24, 2025, at the KIOTEC Office in Ancol. A total of 20 participants from PKP Pangandaran, PKP Karawang, the Polytechnic of Fishery Business Experts (AUP), and the Tegal Fisheries Business School (SUPM) took part in a three-day training focused on the operation and application of marine survey instruments—ADCP and CTD. Over the course of three days, participants received both theoretical and practical sessions, including data collection and processing.

On April 24th, MTCRC attended the official launch of “Cost Benefit Analysis (ABM) for the Future of Conservation Area Management, Realizing the 30x45 Vision,” hosted by Konservasi Indonesia at Morrissey Hotel, Jakarta. The event introduced a new guideline aimed at aiding national and international stakeholders in planning and managing conservation areas.
A talk show featured representatives from MMAF, Bappenas, Konservasi Indonesia, and Ocean 5, highlighting the importance of conservation areas in building a sustainable blue economy and discussing funding strategies. MTCRC remains committed to supporting collaborative marine conservation efforts that provide ecological and economic benefits for current and future generations.

On April 23rd, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC facilitated an introductory meeting requested by the OECD, bringing together key Indonesian institutions like the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs, Bappenas, and BPPSDMKP. The OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) shared its work on ocean economy trends and data analysis, supporting Indonesia in optimizing its sustainable ocean sectors.
14-15 April 2025
ITB and the Korea-Indonesia MTCRC conducted a survey in the Cirebon waters on April 14-15, 2025. The survey was led by Dr. Lamona I Bernawis, an Oceanography lecturer at ITB, accompanied by three students. The survey focused on measuring oceanographic parameters, monitoring sea currents, and collecting turbidity data along the Cirebon coastline during the two-day survey.
13-14 March 2025
On March 13-14, 2025, MTCRC conducted a survey at Mangrove Mundupesisir & Gunungjati using DJI Phantom 4 Multispectral & DJI Matrice 300 with LiDAR sensor to map actual conditions, classify mangrove species, and collect spectral data of species mangrove, GCP collection, biophysical mangrove measurement, and sediment core.
On March 14, IPB students collaborated in fieldwork, gaining hands-on experience with drone-based mapping, land positioning, and hyperspectral measurement to support their thesis research. This research strengthens mangrove conservation using advanced technology.

As leading maritime nations, Korea and Indonesia are committed to promoting the Blue Economy for sustainable growth.
To enhance bilateral collaboration, the Korea-Indonesia MTCRC and BAPPENAS organized the "𝗞𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗮-𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗮 𝗕𝗹𝘂𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿". The event featured five expert speakers from both countries and brought together participants from institutions such as Bappenas, MTCRC, BRIN, KKP, KIOST, and the Korea Maritime Institute (KMI). Discussions focused on sharing insights and strategies to advance an innovative and sustainable Blue Economy. The seminar is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two nations in this crucial sector.
24-27 February 2025
Korea-Indonesia MTCRC organized the Marine Survey Equipment Training (MSET) 2025, the first capacity-building program held at KIOTEC Building Ancol. MSET 2025 took place on February 24-27, 2025, and was attended by 40 ODA KIOTEC Master's scholarship beneficiaries who are continuing their studies at ITB, UGM, IPB, UNDIP, and UNPATTI. This training equips participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in using the ADCP and CTD for various marine and fisheries applications. The cooperation commitment between Indonesia and Korea through the KIOTEC ODA project, alongside the roles of KIOST and MTCRC as implementing institutions, will continue to support research, innovation, and the sustainability of the marine and fisheries sector in Indonesia.

After successfully signing the Korea ODA Project "Establishment of the Integrated Ocean Fisheries Technology Training Center and Enhancement of Capacity Building in Indonesia", the establishment of KIOTEC as an Ocean and Fisheries Technology Training Center is being initiated to strengthen the capacity building in Indonesia. The opening ceremony of KIOTEC was held on 24 February 2025 and invited relevant stakeholders such as BPPSDMKP, CMFA, and DEN. With the inauguration of KIOTEC Ancol, this training center is expected to become a hub for developing human resource capacity in marine science and technology
13-14 February 2025
The Korea-Indonesia MTCRC hosted a delegation from KIOST on February 13-14, 2025, including Vice President Kang DongJin, Senior Director Ryu Joohyung, and Director Roh Wondae. During their visit, they toured key locations such as KIOTEC, the Jakarta Thamrin offices, and the Cirebon center, where they explored facilities, equipment, and demonstrations. This visit further strengthened the collaboration between Indonesia and Korea, with MTCRC Directors Dr. Hansan PARK, Mrs. Ivonne M. Radjawane, and Mr. Chungkyung Jeon accompanying the delegation

The 3rd ODA KIOTEC Steering Committee Meeting was held on February 4, 2025, at Graha Mandiri (Kemenko Pangan) in Jakarta. As the ODA KIOTEC Project enters its second year of implementation, following the first-year activity report, the committee reviewed its continuation and future plans.
Dr. PARK Hansan, the Project Manager, briefly introduced ODA KIOTEC to the newly appointed Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Dandy Satria from Kemenko Pangan. The meeting covered key discussions aimed at ensuring the smooth implementation of the ODA KIOTEC agenda in 2025.

The 6th Annual Advisory Board Meeting of MTCRC was held today, on January 31st, 2025, in Jakarta. The meeting focused on improving MTCRC's research capacity and reviewing its 2020-2024 survey activities. The Advisory Board offered insights and recommendations on selecting the most impactful survey for publication, emphasizing scientific contribution. Through these discussions, MTCRC continues its commitment to advancing marine research and strengthening its role as an intergovernmental research center.
