On January 22, 2025, the PKPP delegation visited the Korea-Indonesia MTCRC in Cirebon, greeted by MTCRC Directors Dr. Hansan Park and Ibu Ivonne M. Radjawane. The delegation aimed to explore the facilities and equipment available at the Cirebon Center. MTCRC provided an overview of ongoing activities, and both sides discussed potential future research collaborations. The PKPP delegation expressed interest in the facilities and possible partnership opportunities.

On 15th January 2024, MTCRC held a collaborative meeting with BPPSDMKP at the Mina Bahari 3 Building in Central Jakarta. The meeting was warmly welcomed by the Head of BPPSDMKP, Mr. I Nyoman Radiarta.
During the discussion, both parties emphasized their commitment to advancing the sustainability of the capacity-building initiative in marine and fisheries, known as the KIOTEC ODA Project. Key topics included the development of the KIOTEC Center in Ancol, joint research initiatives, scholarship programs, and other collaborative efforts.
18-19 December 2024
An on-site survey was conducted in the Cirebon Sea on December 18-19, involving ITB lecturers, MTCRC researchers, and students from ITB's Earth Sciences and Oceanography programs. The survey focused on collecting data for academic research, including CTD measurements, water and sediment sampling, and ADCP deployment to measure ocean currents. The samples will be analyzed at MTCRC’s advanced labs to assess nutrient content. This collaboration highlights the strong partnership between institutions in advancing marine science and education.

This workshop showcased collaborative research in marine science and technology, strengthening the partnership between Korea and Indonesia. Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Center hosted the KIOST delegation (Dec 10-13, 2024)! Director for Global Cooperation Lee Taehee & Director for the Korea-Peru Marine Science Technology Joint Research Center Woo Han Jun explored key locations, including KIOTEC, the Jakarta Thamrin and Gatsu offices as well as Cirebon center, witnessed research demos & cutting-edge tech. Strengthening Indonesia-Korea collaboration!

From December 3rd to 7th, 2024, MTCRC successfully held the Korea Visit Program: Early Career Ocean Professional (ECOP) 2024. This program included notable participants, Gustami Ika from BRIN, awarded Best Participant in the MTCRC Korean Culture Class! 🎉
Over the five days, participants were included in an agenda to enhance their understanding of maritime trends, technologies, and industries, while also appreciating the rich cultural heritage of South Korea. Highlights included visits to iconic sites, including UN Peace Memorial Hall, PKNU Research Training Vessel, Busan Port, Korea Institute of Ocean Science and Technology (KIOST) facilities, the National Maritime Museum, Pusan National University (PNU), and also Gyeongbokgung palace.
The program aimed to equip participants with valuable technical knowledge and cultural understanding to share and apply their expertise to support progress in global maritime innovation and cooperation.

On November 28, 2024, the Postgraduate Program in Marine Technology (TEK) from the Department of Marine Science and Technology, IPB University, conducted an Integrated Field Trip to MTCRC Cirebon. The IPB team was warmly received by MTCRC Indonesia Director, Mrs. Ivonne M. Radjawane, and Head of the Training and Survey Department, Mr. Chungkyung JEON, at the MTCRC Cirebon Center.
The visit aimed to explore the facilities, equipment, and laboratories available at the Cirebon Center. MTCRC researchers provided detailed explanations of their activities, state-of-the-art facilities, and equipment. The team also visited ARA Port at Pelindo to gain further insights into MTCRC’s collaborative operations.
This field trip offered invaluable exposure to cutting-edge marine research, advanced technology applications, and collaborative opportunities—marking a significant step in supporting Indonesia's maritime advancement!

On November 26, 2024, the Korea-Indonesia Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center (MTCRC) organized its Awardee Gathering in Bandung. This event celebrated alumni achievements, fostered connections, and featured cultural performances such as the Buchaechum, Jaipong, and KPOP dances. It was attended by MTCRC alumni awardees and inspiring speakers.
A key highlight was the inauguration of the MTCRC Ambassador, a role symbolizing innovation, collaboration, and excellence in marine research between Korea and Indonesia.
20-22 November 2024
Korea-Indonesia MTCRC is pleased to have contributed to the Monitoring Survey for Seaweed in Lombok, part of the Large Scale Seaweed Farming initiative. In partnership with Kemenkopangan, Sea6 Energy Indonesia, UNRAM, BRIN, and KI, the survey effectively monitored ocean parameters using CTD WiMo to collect water samples for analysis in the MTCRC laboratory and assess biodiversity. Held from November 20-22, 2024, in Teluk Awang, East Lombok, the survey has played a key role in advancing the sustainable development of seaweed farming.

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC actively participated in the Training on Ecosystem-Based Approach for Mangrove Conservation and Mangrove Surface Carbon Stock Mapping held from November 19-22. This initiative supports Indonesia's FOLU Net Sink 2030 goal, demonstrating our commitment to environmental sustainability. Organized by the Faculty of Geography, Universitas Gadjah Mada, in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forestry, the training in Yogyakarta was part of the ongoing partnership to enhance mangrove conservation and carbon stock mapping efforts.
