The International Workshop on Small Islands Management was held on 28 November 2025 in Jakarta, bringing together experts and practitioners to discuss sustainable approaches to managing small island environments. The workshop featured presentations from eight speakers and was guided by three moderators who facilitated in-depth discussions. A total of 62 participants attended, representing various institutions and sectors, contributing to a vibrant exchange of knowledge and best practices for small island management.
24-27 November 2025
The International Training on Marine Environmental Mapping using Remote Sensing for Small Island Research and Development provided participants with essential skills in remote sensing for marine monitoring. The program included theory sessions on RS equipment and software, field training on Tidung Island, and data processing using GEE and QGIS. The event was supported by 3 lecturers, 10 trainers, and attended by 30 trainees, strengthening research capacity for small island development.
27-31 October 2025
Korea–Indonesia MTCRC and Pusan National University (PNU) conducted a Joint Training on Benthic Habitat Mapping for Seagrass Meadow in Tidung Kecil Island, Seribu Islands for five days.
This collaboration strengthens technical capacity in coastal ecosystem monitoring and enhances marine science research cooperation between Indonesia and Korea.

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC was invited by the Department of Oceanography, Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), to present the MTCRC profile in front of students during the Final Project Exhibition and Internship Presentation event on Monday October 20, 2025.
This activity provided an opportunity to introduce MTCRC’s programs and collaborative initiatives in marine research, as well as to engage with prospective young talents in the field of ocean sciences.

On 17 October 2025, the Korea-Indonesia MTCRC participated in the seminar “Discover Indonesia’s Shrimp: Aligned to International Standards, Delivered with Superior Quality,” organized by the Coordinating Ministry of Food Affairs (CMFA).
Held alongside the Trade Expo Indonesia at ICE BSD, Tangerang, the seminar gathered shrimp industry experts to discuss farming, quarantine systems, market access, and sustainability.
14 & 16 October 2025
On 14 and 16 October 2025, Oceanography students from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) Batch 2022 & 2023 visited the MTCRC Chemical Laboratory as part of their Sea Water Quality Lecture.
During the visit, students attended a class session to learn about marine chemical analysis and joined a laboratory tour to observe the sample preparation and analysis process, guided directly by MTCRC’s chemical laboratory staff.

Dr. Hansan Park, Director of the Korea–Indonesia Marine Technology Cooperation Research Center (MTCRC), joined the talk show session at the 21st Annual Scientific Meeting of the Indonesian Oceanologists Association (ISOI XXI 2025) at Diponegoro University, Semarang. The session, themed “The Lighthouse of Ocean Science for a Sustainable Future,” introduced the UNESCO IOC Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission and emphasized the importance of international collaboration in advancing ocean science.

The Agro-Industry Product Development Program (PPA) of Cilacap State Polytechnic held a public lecture on “Peran Laboratorium dalam Menjamin Keamanan Produk Pangan Pesisir.” Mrs. Diyah Fatimah Oktaviani, S.Kel., M.Sc., an MTCRC researcher, was invited as the keynote speaker. In her presentation, she discussed the importance of food safety in coastal areas, the challenges in ensuring product quality, the role of laboratories in the food supply chain, and strategies for advancing coastal food product development.
On this occasion, Mrs. Diyah also visited the Cilacap State Polytechnic laboratory, further strengthening academic collaboration through this public lecture on coastal food safety.

On 2 September 2025, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Cirebon Center welcomed Mr. HA Kyungsoo and Mr. Moon Joonsik from the Korean Embassy. They were accompanied by Dr. Hansan Park, Director of Korea-Indonesia MTCRC, for a tour of the facilities and an introduction to the research instruments available at the center. This visit further strengthens the collaboration and partnership between Korea and Indonesia in advancing marine science and technology.
19-29 August 2025
As part of the ODA Ocean Satellite Project, the Korea-Indonesia MTCRC, together with KIOST and partner institutions, conducted a field survey in Cirebon on August 19–29, 2025, focusing on photometric measurements and water sampling for Chlorophyll-a, TSM, and CDOM analysis. This survey successfully gathered valuable datasets to validate satellite ocean color data (GOCI) and deepen our understanding of water quality dynamics in Cirebon.

On August 26, 2025, the 2nd Year Report & 4th Steering Committee Meeting of the ODA KIOTEC project “𝙀𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙄𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙙 𝙊𝙘𝙚𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙞𝙨𝙝𝙚𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮 𝙏𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘾𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝘽𝙪𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣 𝙄𝙣𝙙𝙤𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙞𝙖”, was held at DoubleTree Kemayoran, Jakarta.
The event brought together key stakeholders from government, universities, and institutions to review progress, share insights, and plan the next phase. Dr. PARK Hansan, Project Manager, presented the annual report, marking an important step forward for ODA KIOTEC.
