Korea–Indonesia MTCRC and GQSP Indonesia, UNIDO conducting a field survey in Karawang, West Java to study Gracilaria seaweed farming and its role in blue carbon ecosystems. The survey focuses on measuring water quality, assessing sediment and carbon storage potential, and analyzing the biochemical profile of cultivated seaweed. This survey aims to strengthen sustainable aquaculture practices, support ecosystem resilience, and highlight seaweed’s contribution to climate change mitigation.
18-21 August 2025
On 18-21 of August, the three day VTOL Drone Training was successfully conducted in Jakarta, at the KIOTEC Office, and in Cirebon. This advanced technology is paving the way for more accurate coastal mapping and empowering participants with the skills to strengthen science-based ocean management.
4-5 August 2025
Korea–Indonesia MTCRC supports the regular survey conducted by ITB on August 4–5, 2025, in the Cirebon seawaters, West Java. The survey, led by Dr. Lamona I. Bernawis, M.Sc., was conducted in line with student guidance activities for the Earth Science Master’s Program (S2) and Oceanography Bachelor’s Program (S1). The main focus included CTD measurements, current speed monitoring (ADCP), and water sampling for Chlorophyll, TSM, and CDOM, contributing valuable data for marine environmental analysis.
5 August 2025

As part of the Korea–Indonesia Ocean Technology Capacity Enhancement Actions (KIOTEC-CEA) project—an endorsed Decade Action under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030)—a Master's Degree Awardee Seminar 2025 was held to showcase the research progress of 12 selected students from six Indonesian partner universities (ITB, UNDIP, UNHAS, UGM, UNPATTI, and IPB) on July 30, 2025. Organized by Korea–Indonesia MTCRC and KIOST, this event served as a platform for awardees to present their thesis topics, ranging from coastal ecology to fisheries technology and applied oceanography, before an expert panel including national and international representatives such as BRIN, Indonesian universities, and Pukyong National University (Korea).
14-15 July 2025
Korea-Indonesia MTCRC supports a collaborative field survey on 14-15 of July 2025 at Jakarta Bay. This survey initiated by IPB University under the APN project "Harnessing Earth Observation (EO) to Enhance Decision-Making for EuHAB Impact Mitigation and Adaptation," led by Prof. Dr. Jonson Lumban Gaol.
This joint research involves international partners including Burapha University (Thailand) and JAMSTEC (Japan). The objectives of this survey include collecting remote sensing reflectance (Rrs) and water quality & ocean parameter data.
