Korean Delegation Visit MTCRC Cirebon Center and Research Boat ARA

MTCRC Cirebon Center and ARA Boat were visited by representatives of Korean Delegation, including Junhyung KIM (Deputy Director of KIOST), Prof. Wonkook KIM (Pusan National University), and Prof. Sungpyo HUR (Jeju National University). The delegation from Indonesia representatives from the Deputy Coordinating Minister for Maritime Resources CMMAI Mr. Amalyos Chan and Mr. Rahmat Mulianda, S.Pi., M.Mar., Dean of FEST ITB Dr. Irwan Meilano, with MTCRC Directors Ivonne M Radjawane, Ph. D and Dr. Hansan PARK also including to give a warm welcome

MTCRC Directors - Dr. PARK Hansan Received the World Marine Environmental Award

MTCRC Director - Dr. PARK Hansan received the World Marine Environmental Award from Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment(CMMAI) as a figure who has contributed to the preservation of the world's marine environment and for his contribution in leading the Korea-Indonesia collaborative project through MTCRC on sustainable marine research as a basis for national marine environmental assessment .

Korea-Indonesia 6th Joint Commission on Marine Science Technology

Korea-Indonesia 6th Joint Commission on Marine Science and Technology has successfully held in the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment (CMMAI) Building, Jakarta. This agenda is a commitment between the two countries to strengthening the practical cooperation in the field of marine science and technology after Implementing Arrangement (IA) signed between the Ministry of Ocean and Fisheries (MOF) Korea and the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment (CMMAI) Indonesia on May 9th, 2018. Joint Commission between Korea and Indonesia has been held 5 times since 2018 and has become the annual agenda between the two countries.

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Supported ITB Students to Collect Field Survey Data

6-8 March 2023

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC supported ITB Students to collect field survey data for temporary results of survey credits to ITB students. The field survey was conducted in Pangenan, Cirebon. The survey activity consists of Aerial mapping using drones in the mangrove area (red area on map) with a total of about 30 hectares, High accuracy positioning for GCP, and building DTM (red and orange points on the map) with up to 5 mm accuracy achieved and other additional surveys: measuring current velocity in rivers and water quality (blue point on the map). The main outputs of this research survey are Mangrove aerial mapping for biomass and carbon content estimation and Current velocity estimation by implementing LSPIV

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Supported ITB Marine Ecotourism Field Course Activities

4-5 March 2023

Marine Ecotourism is one of the elective courses in the Bachelor of Oceanography Study Program, ITB, which equips students with conceptual knowledge about oceanography's role in ecotourism. A total of 36 Oceanography ITB students, Korea-Indonesia MTCRC supported ITB for marine ecotourism field course activities in the Special Region of Yogyakarta. The field course activity was conducted in the Gunungkidul Regency, including Jungwok Beach and Wediombo Beach, on day one and the next day at Bantul Regency Parangtritis Beach. MTCRC supported the documentation of the activity and additional data for the coastal maps using drones. Coastal area mapping using drones is carried out on Jungwok Beach, Wediombo beach, and Parangtritis Beach.

Blue Economy Strategic Plan Development with ASEAN

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC Directors, Dr. PARK Hansan attended Multi-stakeholder Dialogue on The Development of The ASEAN Blue Economy Framework as the invitees in Bangka Belitung Island. This event is also the 43rd Meeting of the High-Level Task Force on ASEAN Economic Integration (43rd HLTF-EI) hosted by the Deputy Minister for Economic Affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning of the Republic of Indonesia. Every ASEAN County is introducing its development of the blue economy. With this dialogue, we could understand that there are varieties of development levels on the blue economy among the ASEAN member states and how important is the blue economy for the ASEAN country. Indonesia has progressed on the blue economy roadmap and other related policy measures, as well as building Indonesia's blue economy index at the provincial level.

Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences (FMIPA) ITB Visits MTCRC Cirebon Center

Faculty of Mathematics and Sciences (FMIPA) ITB Dean and their official staff visited MTCRC Cirebon Center. The visit aimed to inspect the building room for academic/activity purposes and see the current activity in Watubelah, particularly the MTCRC activity and its equipment. Mrs. Ivonne and MTCRC staff, accompanied by the Vice Dean of FITB, escort all guests to each room. They appreciate and are amazed by MTCRC equipment, especially the MTCRC chemical laboratory since it relates to their field. MTCRC, in general, had been introduced by MTCRC Indonesia Director Ivonne Radjawane, Ph.D. After the discussion, they hoped for cooperation or joint research with MTCRC in the future.

Training of Mapping Coastal Areas Using Remote Sensing Data

20-22 February 2023

Korea-Indonesia MTCRC successfully conducted "The Training of Mapping Coastal Areas Using Remote Sensing Data" in MTCRC Cirebon Center as the implementation of the Capacity Building program which aims to increase the capacity, skill, and knowledge of Indonesian researchers. The training was conducted for three days with three main activities, namely theory classes, field training, and data processing classes. For three days, participants will be provided with rich expertise in theory and practice regarding methods and data processing using remote sensing data and satellite and drone imagery data utilization.
